Can I avoid chemotherapy?
by ANDREW BEVAN
Two and a half months prior to her approach to my office, a woman in her 70’s had discovered a lump, which proved to be cancer. Doctors had made sure that the growth was quickly removed and claimed she was cured, yet said the cancer was of a genetically vicious type, so although she was now healthy and well, they recommended treatment with chemotherapy to reduce the likelihood of a returning incidence. The querent lives a conscious, healthy and alternative life-style. Her body balance and spiritual growth is important to her, and she knows how taxing 6 months of chemotherapy will be on her physic. She wonders, considering she is elsewise sound and has no other medical record, whether the chemotherapy may be bypassed? She feels instinctively it is wrong to submit to this treatment, although her father passed away due to cancer many years ago, and this came on fast and only took 3 months from the time it was discovered.
Her question is asked on Thursday, 27th June 2024, at 13:33 CEST. The chart (below) is cast for my location in Alesund, Norway, 62N28, 6E09, being the place of the Artist. Her location is somewhere else in the country. It is the Day of Jupiter and the Hour of the Moon. The latter is easily discovered, because the Sun is in the first half of the 10th house, which reveals it is the 6th hour of the Day of Jupiter. The chart has a Libra Ascendant, which is ruled by Venus. In this manner the chart is made radical in several fashions; 1) The Lady of the Ascendant, Venus, and Lady of the Hour, the Moon, are friends by their natural powers, viz. both cold, temperate and moist. 2) Both are placed in the same triplicity, i.e. signs of the water element. 3) Finding Venus in Cancer and the Moon in Pisces, the exaltation of Venus, there is also a strong reception between the two.
However, even here I initially noted that both the ruler of the Day, Jupiter, the Lady of the Hour, the Moon, and Lady of the Ascendant, Venus, were all benevolent planets with no discord among their own natures, which may be regarded a positive token of harmony and balance that may be taken further into the inspection of the matter at hand.
Venus, Lady of the Ascendant, and who thereby becomes the primary significator of the Querent, is in the sign of Cancer in the 10th house of the chart. While it would be incorrect to assume any causal relationship at work, often we observe how the debilitations within a sign either warn or appear together with a disposition or liability to the diseases of either the same nature or name of the sign, i.e. Cancer. Venus is combust by the Sun and could be weakened in this way, yet the Sun is Lord of the protective 11th house and placed on the Midheaven, and Venus we also find located in the beneficial terms of Jupiter, whom we recognize as a problem-fixer. Yet, the Moon’s South Node in Libra in the 1st house is an indication of weakness, discomfort and potentially signifies the genetical hazard.
Venus applies to the dexter (strong, right-handed, deliberate) aspect of Mars, who is Lord of the 7th and significator of the doctor or physicians. Mars is detrimented in Taurus, yet disposed by Venus by both sign (administratively) and triplicity (network & resources), and Venus is in his triplicity (i.e. the water signs), so they are congenial, complying and amicable in regard of one another. And the dexter application shows how the querent may secure and fortify her future advancing path and progress, yet the question still remains – whether chemotherapy is the correct step to take, or this will prove an unnecessary toil on the body? Also, Mars, significator of the physician, does not offer much from Taurus unless essentially dignified, i.e. in his own terms, where he is not.
The Moon, who is the co-significator in every question, is in the 6th house of Health Matters in this chart, in the sign of Pisces. She needs but 2° to join to the body of Saturn, and it was at this time doctors wanted her to start with chemotherapy, i.e. in 2 weeks’ time. But let’s first examine Jupiter, who is Lord of the 6th, because we find that, even though he is in his own detriment in Gemini, he is still located in both his own terms (finger, toolbox, workshop and service-centre) and face (charm, make-up, appearance, presentation, humour, chemistry, bidding and claim). So that in two of his lesser dignities he is able to hold his ground, and the querent has been announced currently well and free from disease. Note, we also find Jupiter in the same sign as Fortuna, another indication of health and fortitude.
Saturn, however, who represents the chemotherapy, is peregrine in Pisces and located in no essential dignity of his own. So it is doubtful whether he (Saturn) either can or will contribute with anything positive, since he has neither credit nor merit, nor a belonging to the grounds. In this way he is more shown as a burden; a wanderer, outlaw or tramp, or someone who cares not, who leaves his rubbish behind and pollutes the territory, rather than someone who contributes constructively. I also noticed that Mercury, his friend by natural powers, i.e. cold and dry, was located in Cancer (i.e. both are similar poisons: Saturn-lead, Mercury-Quicksilver) – but that the two planets rejected one another, meaning: Mercury was in the detriment of Saturn, and Saturn in the detriment and fall of Mercury. So that these two planets could not contribute to one another or represent one another in their place without putting the other in a difficult situation – and there where we find such a rejection in a chart, matters are often caused to collapse.
So, even though Saturn was the Almuten of the Ascendant, and disposed the rising degree by exaltation, triplicity and term, I found him peregrine, slow and entering his first station, below the horizon and out of sect (opposite to hayiz); thus weak and of a limited influence, resource and contribution. Bearing in mind the protective testimonies in the chart, the Sun, Lord of the 11th on the MC, and the reception between Venus, the significator of the Querent, in Cancer and the Moon in Pisces – this was still an occasion to act responsibly.
Past the Moon’s application to Saturn, she applied to a sextile (60°) of Uranus, who was within a degree of the fixed Star Algol, an star of rather ill repute, but which is known to either take the head off things, put them to sleep or hold them in arrest. In this case, such qualities may be useful. Of other forms of treatment she had been offered was radiation, which was considered less efficient but it was shorter, less complex and less taxing on the body. I noticed that Uranus was 25°34′ Taurus in the horary chart, which compared with her natal Jupiter at 25°55′ Taurus, who also was Lord of her natal 4th house and significator of her father. So I recommended the querent to go for the radiation, also in honour and respect of the legacy of her father to whom she had been closely connected. I also suggested future points in time for when she may check upon her situation to make sure that everything remained in balance, was successful and stable. She agreed that this was what she wanted to do, and so the consultation was concluded.
The End.
