Different Relational Horaries, Under the Same Sky
by ANDREW BEVAN
The first chart regards a young man who wonders whether his girl-friend will return, or whether she will move on?
The question is asked at 14.17 CEST, Friday, July 5. 2024. The chart is cast for my location, the place of the Artist, which is where there is “a break in the clouds”, and which is Aalesund, Norway, 62N28, 6E09. It is the Day of Venus and Hour of the Sun. The latter is easily spotted because the Sun is in the latter half of the 9th house, meaning it is the 7th hour on the Day of Venus. Libra is on the ascendant, so the chart is radical because Lady of the Ascendant, Venus, and the Sun, Lord of the Hour, are in the same sign and triplicity, namely Cancer. And the Lord of the Hour is closely square the Ascendant, where the aspect also proves the chart radical, but the nature of the aspect shows contributing factors, and the flow of issues that must be resolved on the way. We will soon see how the square becomes challenging.
At first sight, we discover Venus, who is the Lady of the Ascendant; a benefic and the natural significator of love, affection and relationships – on the Midheaven of the chart. This we might have interpreted as an early positive. But the problem is with the Sun, Lord of the Hour. While Venus together with the Sun, if they had been applying, could have been the token of Marriage – the Sun on its own accord does not offer returns or second chances. In this respect, the Hour of the Sun is always a One-Off and a Royal occasion; elsewise it shall be regarded as an Hour of combustion.
In this chart, Venus, Lady of the 1st house and significator of the querent, has newly separated from combustion and a situation of being over-whelming, yet she is still under the Sun’s Beams and slightly bewildered, or in a daze. Venus is applying to the square of Chiron who by nature opens doors, breaks up stuck and unhealthy patterns, and builds bridges from one world to another. Then Venus applies to the sextile of Uranus, which would indicate individuality, divorce, freedom or discovery, and the start of something new.
The Moon, who is the co-significator in every question, is waning and combust. She is closing her cycle and thus wants to put a lid on things. The meaning of her cyclic phase is emphasised with the Sun acting as Lord of the Hour, but with no further representation of either the querent or quesitive. He offers no return. He will bury, end and lay dead. Reduce, hide and forget. With the Moon in a cardinal sign and a cadent house, it is important to point out to the querent that even though current affections and desires may suggest elsewise, in such cases matters often cost more than they are worth. And the journey is short to repetitive patterns. With the cadent houses there is always a stretch and hard to get; a travel, distance or delay. So this indicates prospects are not so attractive.
The Sweetheart would be represented by the 5th house, where Pisces is on the cusp. Often Pisces is complicated, even karmically complex. It is the sign of diversity. Differences attract, or are at least brought together for some time for some debt to be paid, or to attempt resolve an issue. Within the 5th house we find Saturn retrograde without essential dignity. Hence, he is peregrine and deprived of virtue, quality, staying-power or belonging. He contributes with nothing. Jupiter is Lord of the 5th. We find him in his own terms and face in Gemini. So there was once a case, but Jupiter is in his detriment and a mutable sign. So, matters were fleeting and changeable. Yet, unto him applies his dispositor, who is Mercury. Mercury is intercepted and hidden (parcelled) in the 10th house of fate and marching direction of the future. He is Lord of the 11th house, which is the 7th house of relationships from the 5th house of the Sweetheart. So it is to be shown that the Sweetheart soon will be picked up and courted by another, maybe upon a party, dance or flashy occasion (Leo) and that this will occur quite suddenly, as intercepted planets often are released and appear by surprise, just like the content of a hidden or overlooked parcel.
The Sun, Lord of the Hour, dominates the chart in a restrictive fashion, so the answer is a negative. Both the querent and his past girl-friend will move on, and the relationship will not be resumed.
The second client is a female who confesses having dumped her last partner on at least 3 previous occasions. He has moved on to a new date, yet they still stay in touch and it would appear they can’t quite let go of one another. She wonders whether they would be reunited?
The question is asked at 10.34 CEST, July 6. 2024, one day after the prior consultation. The chart is again cast for Aalesund, 62N28, 6E09. Here we have the Day of Saturn and Hour of Venus. Virgo is on the cusp of the first house, and Mercury is Lord of the Ascendant. Yet, Venus rules the Ascendant by triplicity, hence the chart is radical. And according to this type of radicality, some protection of circumstance is granted and matters proceed according to a correct order. But Virgo is the sign of Venus’ fall, so the querent offers her apologies and regrets because she feels she has messed things up and made a mistake. Notice how the Moon applies to Venus, Lady of the Hour, so there are things going on here. The Lord or Lady of the Hour always offers an important hint or clue.
Mercury, Lord of the first house and significator of the querent, is in the protective 11th. He is coming from a sesquiquadrate (135°) with Saturn, who is retrograde, peregrine and in the 7th house of relationships. The 11th house shows protection to the querent and does in this way offer her the best option of both worlds, either good or bad. While the sesquiquadrate aspect suggests complex external processes that lie beyond the scope or management of the querent and that the querent was not supposed to be a part of – hence the lock-down on the relationship.
Yet, the Moon on the cusp of the protective 11th house applies to Venus, who is Lady of the 2nd house of the future, so even though the querent and quesitive are not to be reunited in the present, it is shown for the near future – which often is either in 2-3 weeks or 2-3 months time, according to the nature of the question. In this case I would go for the longer time unit, because matters need to be sorted out. The woman’s ex-boyfriend is already dating someone new due to the rejection and needs to work his way out of this. Because the South Node is in the 2nd house, their reunion is likely to be passionate and blind, and maybe corporal urges will surface before issues are resolved. So they need to avoid mistakes and getting into a mess. They should be wary of short cuts and walking into a trap, but as long as they keep things apart and work towards a long term objective their relationship still has prospects. Because Venus is Lady of the Hour and in the protective 11th house.
This is also shown in the chart by Mercury’s, who is Lord of the 1st, application to Jupiter, Lord of the 7th, by a dexter sextile. The dexter aspect is forceful, as it casts its angle backwards against the flow of the Zodiac, hence into known and structured grounds. Mercury is significator of the querent, so she should take the initiative of the two. Yet, Jupiter, Lord of the 7th, will receive her in his own terms and face, yet disposed by Mercury by sign. So Jupiter has both quality and compatibility, and his disposition ensures her affection will be reciprocated in a good way.
The Moon will in the future depart from combustion, which was the cause for their early attempts not succeeding, because the combustion struggles to establish and get out of the starting blocks. And even now the moment is not quite ready. Yet, the Moon and Venus on the cusp of the 11th house shows the aptitude for reconciliation and the conjunction will occur both in the face (shine, charm, chemistry and attraction) of the Moon and her sign (home, ownership, foundation and belonging), so several dignities and testimonies are collected, and the fruits may endure. I noticed how Saturn in the 7th and co-significator of the quesitive, was located in the terms of Mercury, Lord of the 1st, and didn’t turn direct until November 15th. So I suggested that patience should be required and that the re-evaluation on their relationship should not be concluded until the middle of November. So, while encountering one another through the Fall, to reach some conclusion on their relationship before and well ahead of Xmas should be their middle term objective. The End.
*The two provided charts are interesting in comparison, because they only occur one day apart and it is possible to see how the planetary essential dignities and receptions change slightly (i.e. Mercury and the Moon).
