The Essential Dignities and the Planetary peaks

According to Ptolemy’s table of Essential Dignities and the traditional method of awarding points to the planets according to their placement by sign and degrees there within, there are some locations along the zodiac where the planets may gather several dignities or credits of a different order in the one and same place. This enhances the disposition and of any such planet, and offers the significator improved performance, increased merit and testimony. It is like a person with a multiple talent and a versatile background, who is recognized in several departments of the world and who is in the position of performing in several offices, capacities or representations. This thus proves the candidate as more valuable, flexible and suited for many settings, and who may extend his influence and range of operations through both knowledge, resources, abilities and associations. In this manner such a significator may exercise a greater influence on the matters contended.

The planetary essential dignities are collected and gathered according to the following scheme:

Own sign – 5 points, Exaltation – 4 points, Triplicity – 3 points, Terms – 2 points, Face – 1 points

it should be pointed out that the planets are most useful within the capacities and stature of the offices to which they are assigned. Meaning that a technician represented by a planet in terms, may still be lousy in sales if it does not possess the capacities represented by Face. A planet in its own terms is valuable all over, but it does still not possess the stature of a planet in its own exaltation or sign. Yet, it may in many instances in fact prove more useful than a planet its own triplicity.

GEMINI
Mercury rules the sign, but may also collect both triplicity and term -> 10
Saturn may dispose both triplicity and term -> 5
Jupiter may gather both a term and a face -> 3

CANCER
The Moon rules the sign, but may also be in her own face -> 6
Jupiter is in his exaltation, but may also be in his own term -> 6
Mars does rule the triplicity, but may also be in term -> 5

LEO
The Sun is ruler, yet may also dispose the triplicity -> 8
Jupiter may rule the triplicity, but also enjoys his own face and term -> 6
Mars may be located in both face and term -> 3
Saturn may be located in both face and term -> 3

VIRGO
Mercury is in both sign and exaltation, but may also be in either term or face -> 11
Venus may gather the triplicity, but also be in both term and face -> 6

LIBRA
Venus rules the sign, but may also be in her own terms -> 7
Saturn is exalted, but may also dispose the triplicity and location by terms -> 9
Mercury will dispose the triplicity by night and also be in his own terms -> 5

SCORPIO
Mars rules both the sign and the triplicity, and may also enjoy his own terms -> 10
Venus may be in both her own face and terms -> 3

SAGITTARIUS
Jupiter may gather virtue by both sign, triplicity and terms -> 10

CAPRICORN
Saturn is the ruler, and may also be placed in his own terms -> 7
Mars is exalted, and may also be dignified by both terms and face -> 8
Venus will collect the triplicity by Day, and may also enjoy her own terms -> 5

AQUARIUS
Saturn will be the ruler, but may also dispose of both triplicity and terms -> 10
Mercury may collect through both triplicity, terms and face -> 6

PISCES
Jupiter is the ruler by sign, but may also gather through both terms and face -> 8
Venus may dispose by both exaltation and terms -> 6
Mars may rule both the triplicity, terms and face -> 6

The luminaries are granted no essential dignities in this sign only

There is also a table of essential debilities, meaning the several ways in which a planet is inadequate. But a planet beholding any portion of essential dignity within this sign, always has a mission or a reason for appearing and performing in this place, and will always offer a resort, safe-haven, asylum, breathing space, harbour or truce in whatever fashion belongs to the operations and nature of such a planet.
